What We Do

From the floors to the yard — and a lot of things in between.

We offer a range of services across your home and property.

Interior Services

■  Hardwood Floor Installation

We install prefinished and site-finished hardwood flooring in a wide range of species and grades. Mark has been laying floors for over 15 years and takes the kind of care with layout, direction, and acclimation that separates a floor that looks good for a season from one that lasts for decades. We work with local suppliers to source quality, sustainably harvested materials.

  • Solid and engineered hardwood

  • Prefinished and site-finished options

  • Subfloor evaluation and repair as needed

  • Free in-home estimates

■  Floor Sanding & Refinishing

Old floors can look new again — and often should, before anyone even considers replacement. We use nearly dustless sanding equipment and take time with the prep, because the finish is only as good as what’s underneath it. Whether you want to match the existing color or start fresh, we’ll walk you through the options.

  • Full sand and refinish

  • Eco-friendly finish options, including low VOC options

  • Historical home flooring renovations and repairs

■  Staircase Refinishing and Installation

Stairs take more abuse than almost any other surface in a home, and a freshly refinished staircase makes an impression every single time someone walks through the door. Andy Walsh — who founded the business and has been finishing staircases for over 25 years — still brings his expertise to these projects. We refinish treads, risers, rails, and balusters.

  • Tread and riser sanding and refinishing

  • Matching existing floor finish or creating new look

  • Repair of damaged or squeaky treads

  • Installation of treads, risers, and skirts

■  Interior Trim Carpentry

Trim is where a room either comes together or quietly falls apart. We handle everything from baseboards and casing to custom cedar paneling and built-ins. Sarah’s fine arts background and Mark’s carpentry experience make for a team that pays attention to proportion, finish, and the way the light hits the corner of a room.

  • Baseboard, casing, and door trim installation

  • Crown molding

Exterior & Property Services

■  Small Landscape Garden Projects

With a small tractor, we handle the kind of outdoor projects that are too big for a shovel and too small to justify calling a large excavation company. We work carefully and clean up after ourselves — which, after years on a farm, is second nature.

  • Drainage improvements

  • Grading and leveling

  • Driveway prep and edging

  • Garden bed building and preparation

  • Removal of stumps and root masses

■  Pesticide-Free Invasive Plant Management

Japanese knotweed. Bittersweet. Multiflora rose. Barberry. These plants are relentless, and chemical treatment isn’t the only answer — or always the right one. We use mechanical removal, targeted excavation, and ongoing management strategies to reduce invasive species without herbicides while protecting your soil, your waterways, and your pets.

  • Identification and assessment

  • Manual and mechanical removal

  • Root mass excavation for persistent species

  • Multi-season management plans

■  Vegetable Garden Building

Mark and Sarah run Blue Fire Farm, so when they help you build a vegetable garden, they’re not working from a catalog photo — they’re drawing on real experience growing food in Maine’s climate, soil, and seasons. We design and build raised beds, in-ground gardens, and simple growing systems tailored to what you actually want to grow.

  • Raised bed design and construction

  • Site selection and sun assessment

  • Soil preparation and amendment

  • Deer and pest fencing

  • First-season planting guidance
